BLACK MAGIC

Also known as the "Dark Arts," black magic is classified as an occult magic, and it is the corruption of the three fundamental forms of fire, water, and life magic. As a result, black magic involves the use of shadow, blood, and death, respectively. Followers of the Dark Arts are called black mages or necromancers.

Black magic was the creation of the witch MORGAN LE FAY, once a water wizard and the apprentice (and lover) of the wizard MERLIN, now turned evil and scorned. Her whereabouts are currently unknown.

BLOOD MAGIC involves human sacrifice, sacrificing one's own blood, bloodletting, blood pacts, drinking blood, burning blood, adding blood to potions, and using blood as ink for scrolls. Different effects are produced depending on whether the blood is harvested from a living being, a young being, an old being, a dead being, or one that has been freshly killed. Initiation rites take place on the night of a Blood Moon- a lunar eclipse which temporarily turns the moon red.

SHADOW MAGIC is connected with Fire for two reasons: flames create shadows, and the gemstone of black magic- Obsidian, a pure black glass- is created out of lava. It is always colder in the shade, and black magic takes this to the extreme- it feels like a burning cold flame.

DEATH MAGIC, or necromancy, involves the calling of spirits, raising and controlling the dead, and manipulating life force through disease, fatigue, and pain. This magic is the most physically taxing of them all.

SHADOW SPELLS

BEGUILE — Target is charmed by the caster and cannot attack the caster or their allies, instead attacking their own allies.

BLACKFLAME — Basic Shadow damage on target. Burns the target with a painfully cold purple fire.

BLACKLIGHT — Caster shrouds an area in total darkness. Unless they have Night Vision, or can naturally see in the dark, no one can see.

CHEAT — Caster secretly alters the outcome of a game of chance, whether it is gambling or rolling a pair of dice. However, others have a chance of noticing this spell.

CHECKMATE — Recast the spell that was last casted on you, onto the target.

CLOAK — A very powerful spell. The caster grabs the fabric of reality and pulls it over themself like a blanket, disappearing and sending their body and consciousness to the dream realm.

DEAD END — Magically covers the caster's tracks. Any clues or scent left behind will disappear when they leave the area.

NIGHTMARE — Inflicts a paralyzing fear effect. Traps the target within their own mind, forcing them to relive their greatest fear over and over.

VISION — Caster may magically see in the dark. Useful in situations where a torch or orb of light would attract unwanted attention.

SHADESTEP — Target can move without making any sound.

SILHOUETTE — Caster transforms into a shadow form, making them impervious of damage.

DEATH SPELLS

BLIGHT — Reduces multiple targets' healing power.

HARM — Basic necrotic damage on target.

DEATH PACT — Applies an effect: if the target dies, they will be revived with half of their health, while the caster loses a quarter of their own health.

DRAIN — Medium damage on target, half of which is returned as health to the caster.

DRINK SOUL — Weakens the target's magic.

EVIL EYE — Target becomes frozen in fear.

MEAT SHIELD — Creates a disgusting shield of flesh which wraps around the caster's arm. Not as effective as other forms of shields, but it can prevent at least one attack from hitting the caster.

KISS OF DEATH — Applies an effect on target: any healing spells cast on target will deal damage instead.

SACRIFICE — Damages the caster to heal the target.

SCARECROW PUPPET — Using sackcloth, branches from a dead tree, and a jack-o-lantern, the caster animates a Scarecrow to do their bidding. It particularly loves striking fear into other creatures.

STARVATION — Makes the target fatigued from hunger.

STRANGLE — Reduces target's healing power.

WITHER — Weakens the target's strength.

REANIMATE — Caster breathes undeath into a skeleton or corpse, resulting in a minion that will follow their orders.

VEIL OF UNDEATH — Disguises the target as undead. Undead creatures perceive the disguised character as a fellow undead and ignore them, allowing the character to pass by unharmed. If the character attacks an undead creature, the spell will abruptly end.

SAP UNDEAD — Caster retracts an undead soul from a skeleton or corpse, making it nothing but bones and meat again.

DRAIN UNDEAD — Caster retracts an undead soul from a skeleton or corpse, healing themselves and killing the minion.

SUMMON UNDEAD I — Summons a skeletal warrior as a minion. It has armor and attacks with its weapon, but ultimately it is only bones and can be easily shattered by an enemy.

SUMMON UNDEAD II — Summons a ghoul as a minion. Although it moves more slowly, it is stronger and its flesh more durable than the skeleton's bones.

SUMMON UNDEAD III — Summons a phantom as a minion, which attacks with death magic, and can only be harmed with magic or magical weapons.

SUMMON UNDEAD IV — Summons an unshade as a minion, which uses death and shadow magic, and can only be harmed with light or life magic or magical weapons.

SUMMON UNDEAD V — Summons a skeletal or zombie dragon as a minion. The final and most powerful Summon Undead spell.
