FOLK OF THE ELD

The Ileryans of the Eld deeply appreciate nature and its gifts, having a close relationship with the animals of the forest.

Culture

The inhabitants of the Eld refer to themselves as Ileryans due to their association with the god Ileryn. Outsiders most commonly know them as Elden or Eldfolk. Grandparents are referred to as eldmothers and eldfathers.

The Elden diet is primarily composed of fungi and foraged plants. The most common foods are foraged root vegetables, nuts, flowers, herbs, lichen, and mushrooms. Sylvans are experienced in boiling and dehydrating mushrooms to remove toxins before consumption. Fruits are also eaten, but the first fruits of a season must be offered to Ileryn.

Ileryans believe themselves to be servants of Ileryn, god of life and nature, and they venerate the sylphs. They live in hollowed trees. Herbs are harvested for healing purposes. A tradition practiced by families is the making of a protective amulet for each child. These amulets serve the purpose of magical conductors, akin to wands.

Government

The Ileryans are ruled by the Four Courts of the Seasons. The Willow functions as the civilization's capitol.

The Court of Spring is composed of healers and midwives who watch over the health of the population.

The Summer Court is composed of druids, with summer being seen as the height of Ileryn's power.

The Autumn Court is composed of experienced foragers and explorers and controls the distribution of food.

The Winter Court is composed of warriors and guardians who ward against danger.
